Learning Journey

Here at Manley and Mouldsworth preschool we use an electronic learning journey called Tapestry to record your childs progress. This is an online application that allows us to take photographs of your child and write observations about activities and things they have enjoyed, which you can access from your phone or computer. You will be given full access to your childs account on admission. Text and images are easy to upload and you too can add your own pictures and text from home of special things you have observed your child doing such as baking or having fun visiting a farm or zoo or just a fun day out with family.

All this information helps us to plan for your childs next steps in learning to support them with their progression. The children also love to share photos from home and talk about the things they have been doing.

We are a happy and enthusiastic group who make enrolling at our preschool a smooth and enjoyable experience. We offer settling in sessions for all new starters that are shorter than a full session to allow the children to become familiar with their new surroundings and caregivers. This process is tailored to meet yours and your childs individual needs.

Food and Drinks

We ask that all the children bring in a packed lunch each day, we have lunch at 12pm. It is up to you as a parent what to add to your child’s lunch box though we can offer recommendations. A typical lunch box could consist of a sandwhich or wrap or pasta, some fruit or vegetables such as carrot sticks or cucumber and maybe a small biscuit. We have a mirowave in our kitchen and can heat some things if you request. We sometimes have children bring in pasta or soup which we are happy to heat if your child prefares a hot meal. We would prefare not to have have chocolate bars or sweets as we promote healthy eating.

We offer morning snack before 10am which is usually cereals and milk or toast and fruit. We then have a small snack in the afternoon around 2.40pm which maybe cheese and crackers with fruit or breadsticks and fruit. This varies from day to day.

We are aware that some children have special dietry needs and others may have allergies. We will discuss this with you prior to your child starting and we will always respond to your child’s individual needs. Our preschool and wrap around care are peanut free and we appreciate if you could bare this in mind when preparing your child’s lunch box.

We encourage all children to bring in a named water bottle each day to keep them hydrated. These can be accessed at all times during the day.

For children in breakfast club and or after school club we also provide breakfast on arrival and a light tea when they join us after school. The light tea may consist of a cheese or ham wrap and a few crisps and a drink or a hot dog, a cheese or ham sandwhich or beans/spaghetti with toast. Drinks and a small dessert of a biscuit or pancake for afters.

Toileting and Nappies

Many of our children are in nappies when they start with us. We have a pull down nappy changer to change nappies on. We request you supply us with an adequate supply of nappies along with any creams nappy bags etc we might need. We ask they be stored on your child’s named peg and we would be grateful if you gave us nappies rather pull ups unless toilet training. We have small toilets and sinks which are easily accessible to the children in the main room. We will always assist parents with children wishing to toilet train and will encourage and support your child when they are ready.

Spare clothes

Please can you provide us with a full set of spare clothes including underware. We have lots of messy play along with common spills and accidents.

Events

We organise many exciting events throughout the year including coffee mornings/afternoons where parents are encouraged to come in, get to know each other and enjoy tea, coffee and a slice of homeade cake (usually made by members of the team). Halloween fun, trips to nearby destinations such as Delamere Forest, Spring Fair, Easter hunt and raffles, Christmas fair at the local school, Preschool Christmas Celebration and Graduation for children leaving us in july.

Commitee

We are a charity run Preschool so we are always looking for parents who are keen to join the commitee and take on an active roll within the preschool.
